Kāma

Kāma refers to desire, pleasure, and emotional fulfilment. It encompasses aesthetic enjoyment, love, and sensual gratification pursued with responsibility and dharma. It is seen as a legitimate goal of life—when pursued ethically and harmoniously with other noble pursuits. Ancient texts like the Kāmasūtra explore it not just as physical desire, but as an essential human need that, when balanced, enriches life and deepens human connection without leading to attachment or excess.

Is Kāma all about sex? No. But, we cannot just sweep the topic of sex under the carpet either. In my blog posts, I will speak less on sex, but more on other facets of Kama; the pursuit of joy through art, music, beauty, and meaningful human connections.
